Meet The Doctor

Dr. Gorski is a native of Chicago’s western suburbs. Having practiced in Warrenville for over 35 years, he has established deep-roots in our community.

Growing up in Lombard, his parents instilled in him a commitment to quality: “The difference between average and excellence is often just a little bit more effort,” they would say.

Dr. Gorski is a devoted family man. As Thomas Aquinas defines it, “Love is willing ‘good’ upon another.”  In his marriage, Dr. Gorski has been “willing good” upon his wife for over 30 years.

Dr. Gorski’s dad was a tool-and-die maker.  “Dad could fix anything,” says Dr. Gorski.  “I guess I inherited his affinity for fixing things, so I decided to become a tool-and-die maker, too.”

A shift in Dr. Gorski’s career path occurred while he was taking machine shop classes. Perhaps influenced by his mother, who taught nursing school and was the office manager for a large, multi-specialty medical practice, Dr. Gorski became fascinated with how the human body works, how it breaks down, and how to repair it. Rather than being a tool-and-die maker like his father and like his grandfather, Dr. Gorski set his new sights on healthcare.

However, Dr. Gorski’s personal history made him question the established medical model. Not only did he witness firsthand the regular over-reliance on prescription drugs, but he also saw his own brother almost die from a drug prescribed to treat a small cut on the foot, which quickly resulted in that brother’s entire immune system shutting down (Dr. Gorski: “I remember like it was yesterday when my parents got the call: ‘Come back to the ICU, now. Your son is not expected to live until the morning’.”)

As he reflected on our culture’s beliefs about sickness and health, Dr. Gorski was further troubled by the short-term benefit that drugs seemed to offer. He began asking some very basic questions, such as “If an aspirin helps, say, the symptoms of a headache, but the person is back where they started when the aspirin wears off, then does the aspirin fix the condition, or does it just temporarily reduce the symptoms? Surely, there must be a way to address causes of problems, rather than just addressing symptoms that result from a cause.”

During a heart-to-heart conversation, Dr. Gorski’s mother suggested he investigate chiropractic, and a new career path was born!

But the path was not easy, and questions about our culture’s beliefs about sickness and health persisted. While in chiropractic school, Dr. Gorski worked at a local hospital, and one of his duties was to put pre-surgical disc patients into traction. Surprisingly often, post-surgical patients would return within months, saying to him “It’s too bad. If the surgeon had only known that the disc next to the level that got the operation was going to fail, he could have operated on that one, too, while he had me open!”

Dr. Gorski was in a quandary: He knew that, with proper intervention, the first surgery might have been avoided. Making matters worse, he knew that the more recent disc injury might very well have been caused by additional stress that resulted from the first surgery! However, as an employee of the hospital, he was ethically bound from sharing such information with the patients. Soon his conscience got the better of him, and Dr. Gorski gave notice and left the hospital.

Dr. Gorski has firsthand knowledge regarding the medical model and the chiropractic model of healthcare. He was raised in a medical model setting, and he continues to trust that good results can be found there – in fact, that there are cases where good results can only be found there.

But Dr. Gorski also believes that the vast majority of conditions could be corrected or avoided completely, without the use of what may be dangerous and avoidable drugs or surgeries.

Dr. Gorski has dedicated his career to this pursuit: Through a natural approach, he hopes to help you live a healthier, more productive life – to be healthy so that you may more fully express your life’s purpose – and he eagerly looks forward to partnering with you in that effort!
